PROGRAMMING Toolkit

The PROGRAMMING Toolkit brings together key resources, knowledge and practical outputs developed throughout the PROGRAMMING COST Action CA21122, with the aim of ensuring that the work of the Action remains accessible, useful and adaptable beyond its formal lifetime.

PROGRAMMING was created to support the development of Geriatric Medicine, with particular attention to countries and healthcare systems where the field is still emerging. However, many of the challenges addressed by the Action — including the need for better geriatric education, greater awareness, stronger interprofessional collaboration and more effective implementation of geriatric principles across healthcare settings — are shared across countries at different stages of geriatrics development.

The resources reflect the different dimensions of the PROGRAMMING Action: understanding educational needs, proposing the content and framework for educational activities on Geriatric Medicine, developing and delivering training, sharing scientific knowledge, supporting implementation and capacity building, promoting health literacy and advocacy, and facilitating communication and dissemination.

Some materials can be used directly, while others are intended to be adapted to local needs, languages, healthcare systems or educational settings. Certain resources, particularly research data and materials intended for secondary scientific use, are subject to specific access, acknowledgement or approval requirements.

For each resource, this Toolkit explains what it is, who it is intended for, how it may be used and, where applicable, the conditions for adaptation, acknowledgement or secondary use.

Rather than serving only as an archive of the Action, the PROGRAMMING Toolkit is intended as a practical legacy: a starting point for future education, implementation, research, advocacy and collaboration aimed at improving care for older people. Users who identify potential applications for these resources are also invited to express their interest in future use, helping to extend and document the legacy of PROGRAMMING beyond the lifetime of the Action.
