We are proud to share that one of the key outputs of our PROGRAMMING 21122 COST Action has just been published in European Geriatric Medicine: “Perceived educational needs in geriatric medicine of professionals: a multinational multilingual open online survey”
This publication represents a truly collective achievement-the result of an incredible collaborative effort across countries, disciplines, and members. It reflects the dedication of our entire community working towards strengthening geriatric medicine where it is still emerging.
What did we find?
Based on responses from over 5,400 health and social care professionals across Europe, this is the first large-scale, multilingual, multinational survey exploring educational needs in geriatric medicine.
The results highlight important gaps in knowledge and training needs-especially in areas such as:
- chronic pain
- comprehensive geriatric assessment (CGA)
- behavioural and psychological symptoms of dementia
- capacity to consent
- resilience, diversity, and depression
These findings provide a strong evidence base to shape future curricula, training programmes, and policy development in geriatric medicine across Europe.
This paper is not just a publication-it is a cornerstone of our Action, directly supporting our mission to improve education, harmonisation, and capacity-building in geriatric medicine.
We warmly encourage all PROGRAMMING members to:
- share this publication within your networks
- present it at meetings and conferences
- use it to advocate for better education and training in geriatrics
- promote it on social media and institutional platforms
Together, we can ensure that these results translate into real impact.
A huge thank you to all contributors and collaborators-this is a shared success!
